The Delhi Judicial Service interview (viva voce) is the final stage after Prelims and Mains. Only candidates who clear the written examination cut-offs are called. Marks awarded here form part of final merit with Mains (exact weightage is stated in the recruitment notice).
What the board looks for
- Sound understanding of basic civil and criminal procedure
- Balanced views on judicial ethics and independence
- Clarity of expression in English (and Hindi where used)
- Awareness of the role of a Civil Judge in Delhi’s case load
- Honesty about academic and professional background
Trick questions on obscure case names matter less than calm, structured answers on bail, injunctions, framing of issues, or fair trial.
How to prepare
- Re-read bare Acts you used for Mains—especially CPC, BNSS, Constitution Articles 14, 21, 22, 32, 226.
- Prepare a clean narrative of your education, practice (if any), and why DJS.
- Follow major Supreme Court and Delhi High Court developments in the months before the interview.
- Practise short oral answers (60–90 seconds) on common trial-court situations.
