AIBE preparation is different from judiciary mains or CLAT. The paper is qualifying, MCQ-based, and in recent cycles open-book for clean Bare Acts. The goal is a stable score above the category cut-off (planning target: 45% General/OBC, 40% SC/ST unless your notice says otherwise), not a top rank.
What fails candidates is uneven coverage: strong criminal law and blank CPC, or the reverse. What works is a short, statute-first plan that matches the 19-subject syllabus.
Step 1 — Build the statute stack
Before notes, assemble the Acts you will actually carry. See Bare Acts allowed in AIBE. At minimum:

Step 2 — Weightage-led weeks
A six-week full-time outline (compress or stretch to your date):
Weeks 1–2 — Procedure and Constitution
- Constitution: fundamental rights, DPSPs, judiciary, federalism, emergency, amendment, writs
- CPC: jurisdiction, res judicata, pleadings, parties, interim orders, appeals, reference, review, revision, execution
- BNSS/CrPC: FIR, investigation, arrest, bail, charge, trial types, judgment, appeal, revision
Aim: open any of these three codes to the right chapter in under thirty seconds.
Weeks 3–4 — Crime, evidence, family, contract
- BNS/IPC: general exceptions sketch, major body and property offences, women-and-child chapter awareness; use BNS–IPC maps for number shifts
- BSA/Evidence: relevancy, admissions, confessions, burden, witnesses, documents
- Family law: marriage, divorce, maintenance, succession heads from your course
- Contract cluster: formation, breach, specific relief, basic property and NI themes
Week 5 — Remaining syllabus subjects
Allocate half-days, not full weeks: professional ethics (BCI rules and leading misconduct themes), PIL, administrative law outline, ADR/arbitration, company, environment, cyber, labour, torts–consumer–MV, tax sketch, land acquisition, IP. These are low weight individually but sum to a meaningful slice of the paper.
Week 6 — Full mocks and bare-Act drills
- Two to three timed 100-question sets from previous papers or mocks
- Review every wrong answer by opening the section, not by rereading a summary
- Ethics and Constitution revision on the last two days
Step 3 — Question habits
- Identify the statute family from the stem (civil procedure vs crime vs Constitution).
- Eliminate options that mix up cognizable/non-cognizable, bailable/non-bailable, or decree/order.
- For dual-named criminal law questions, check whether the option uses BNS/BNSS/BSA numbering.
- Attempt all questions when negative marking is absent.
- Do not spend five minutes on a two-mark equivalent item; flag and return.
Step 4 — What not to over-study
- Multi-volume commentaries
- Rare Supreme Court case lists beyond ethics and landmark constitutional principles
- Judiciary-level answer writing
- Memorising entire IPC section catalogues without BNS transition
