Explanation using Example

Imagine a scenario where the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) identifies a highly reputed program in occupational therapy from the United States. The RCI deems this program to be on par with their standards for rehabilitation professionals. To allow Indian practitioners to benefit from this program, the RCI enters into negotiations with the relevant U.S. authority to establish a mutual recognition of qualifications. They reach an agreement that qualifications from this particular U.S. program will be recognized in India.

Following this agreement, the Central Government issues a notification amending the Schedule of the RCI Act, 1992 to include this U.S. qualification. The notification specifies that only those who have earned the qualification after a certain date will be recognized as certified rehabilitation professionals in India. This enables Indian practitioners who have completed the program after the specified date to practice in India without having to undergo additional qualification processes.
