Explanation using Example
Imagine a university in India has recently developed a new Master's program in Rehabilitation Psychology. This program aims to train students to become skilled rehabilitation professionals. However, the degree is not yet recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), as it is not included in the Schedule of recognized qualifications under the RCI Act.
The university, eager to ensure that their graduates are eligible to practice as certified rehabilitation professionals, applies to the Central Government to have their new Master's degree included in the Schedule. The Central Government reviews the application and consults with the RCI. After careful consideration and ensuring that the program meets the standards set by the RCI, the Central Government decides to amend the Schedule through a notification, adding the Master's in Rehabilitation Psychology to the list of recognized qualifications. They also specify that the recognition will apply to degrees granted after a certain date, ensuring that all recognized professionals have met the updated standards.
