Imagine a group of farmers from different states in India decide to form a cooperative society to market their produce more effectively. They plan to register this cooperative under the Multi-State Co-operative Societies Act, 2002. Here's how Section 3 of the Act would apply to them:

  • Once registered, they would establish a "board" which would be their governing body responsible for managing the society's affairs.
  • The society's internal rules, known as "bye-laws," would need to be registered and would dictate how the society functions and the rights and obligations of its members.
  • The "Central Registrar" is the government official they would interact with for registration and compliance with the Act.
