The Multi-State Co-operative Societies Act, 2002 was enacted to provide for the incorporation, regulation, and winding up of co-operative societies that operate in more than one state in India. The Act applies to all co-operative societies that have their objects extending beyond the boundaries of one state and have been registered under the Act. The Act provides for the formation, registration, and management of multi-state co-operative societies and lays down the rights and obligations of members, committee members, and other office bearers. It also provides for the audit, inspection, and inquiry of such societies and lays down the procedures for winding up such societies.
