Explanation using Example
Example 1:
Ravi was married to Priya in 2010. However, in 2015, Ravi met Anjali and decided to marry her without informing her about his existing marriage with Priya. Ravi and Anjali got married in 2016. Later, Anjali discovered that Ravi was already married to Priya at the time of their marriage. Anjali filed a complaint against Ravi under Section 495 of the Indian Penal Code. Ravi was found guilty of concealing his first marriage from Anjali and was sentenced to imprisonment for a term of seven years and was also fined.
Example 2:
Sunita was married to Rajesh in 2012. In 2018, Sunita met and fell in love with Vikram. Without disclosing her existing marriage to Rajesh, Sunita married Vikram in 2019. A few months into their marriage, Vikram found out about Sunita's previous marriage to Rajesh. Vikram reported the matter to the police. Sunita was charged under Section 495 of the Indian Penal Code for concealing her first marriage from Vikram. The court sentenced Sunita to five years of imprisonment and imposed a fine on her.
