Example 1:

Rahul buys a new smartphone from a local market at a very low price. He knows that the market is notorious for selling stolen goods. Despite suspecting that the phone might be stolen, he goes ahead with the purchase. Later, the police trace the phone back to Rahul and discover it was stolen. Rahul can be charged under Section 411 of the Indian Penal Code for dishonestly receiving stolen property.

Example 2:

Priya finds a gold necklace in a park and decides to keep it. A few days later, she learns from a news report that the necklace was stolen from a nearby jewelry store. Despite knowing this, she does not report it to the police and continues to keep the necklace. Priya can be charged under Section 411 of the Indian Penal Code for retaining stolen property, knowing it to be stolen.
