Explanation using Example
Example 1:
A group of six individuals, A, B, C, D, E, and F, plan and execute a dacoity (armed robbery) at a wealthy businessman's house in Mumbai. During the robbery, A, in an attempt to silence the businessman, shoots and kills him. Under Section 396 of the Indian Penal Code, all six individuals (A, B, C, D, E, and F) are held equally responsible for the murder committed during the dacoity. They can each be punished with death, life imprisonment, or rigorous imprisonment for up to ten years, and may also be fined.
Example 2:
In a rural village in Uttar Pradesh, five men, G, H, I, J, and K, break into a local jeweler's shop to commit dacoity. During the robbery, G stabs and kills the shop owner who tries to resist. According to Section 396 of the Indian Penal Code, all five men (G, H, I, J, and K) are considered guilty of the murder that occurred during the dacoity. They face severe penalties, including the possibility of the death penalty, life imprisonment, or rigorous imprisonment for up to ten years, along with a potential fine.
