Explanation using Example

Example 1:

Ravi, a farmer in a small village, had a dispute with his neighbor, Suresh. In a fit of anger, Ravi poisoned Suresh's cow, which was valued at Rs. 15,000. Under Section 428 of the Indian Penal Code, Ravi can be charged with mischief for killing an animal valued at more than ten rupees. If found guilty, Ravi could face imprisonment for up to two years, a fine, or both.

Example 2:

Priya, a resident of a suburban area, was annoyed by a stray dog that frequently entered her garden. One day, she decided to harm the dog by throwing acid on it, causing severe injuries and rendering the dog useless. The dog was later valued at Rs. 500 by an animal welfare organization. Under Section 428 of the Indian Penal Code, Priya can be charged with mischief for maiming an animal valued at more than ten rupees. If convicted, she could be sentenced to imprisonment for up to two years, fined, or both.
