Priya, a college student, finds out that her classmate, Anjali, has been involved in a relationship with a married man. Priya decides to exploit this information for her benefit. She threatens Anjali that she will inform the college authorities and Anjali's family about the relationship, which could lead to severe consequences for Anjali, including social ostracism and potential legal trouble. Priya demands that Anjali give her a significant amount of money to keep this information secret. In this case, Priya is guilty of committing an offence under Section 389 of the Indian Penal Code, as she is attempting to extort money from Anjali by putting her in fear of an accusation of an offence.
