Explanation using Example

Example 1:

Ravi, a local goon, threatens Suresh that he will harm Suresh's family if Suresh does not give him Rs. 50,000. Fearing for his family's safety, Suresh withdraws the money from his bank account and hands it over to Ravi. In this scenario, Ravi has committed extortion as he intentionally put Suresh in fear of injury to his family and dishonestly induced him to deliver money.

Example 2:

Priya, a college student, receives a message from an unknown number threatening to leak her private photos online unless she transfers Rs. 10,000 to a specified bank account. Terrified of the potential damage to her reputation, Priya transfers the money. The person behind the message has committed extortion by putting Priya in fear of injury to her reputation and dishonestly inducing her to transfer money.

Example 3:

Arjun, a businessman, is approached by a group of men who claim to be from a local political party. They threaten to vandalize his shop unless he signs a cheque for Rs. 1 lakh in their favor. Fearing the loss of his property, Arjun signs the cheque. The men have committed extortion by putting Arjun in fear of injury to his property and dishonestly inducing him to sign a valuable security.

Example 4:

Meena, a software engineer, is blackmailed by her colleague Ramesh, who threatens to falsely accuse her of stealing company data unless she signs a document transferring her shares in the company to him. Afraid of losing her job and reputation, Meena signs the document. Ramesh has committed extortion by putting Meena in fear of injury to her professional reputation and dishonestly inducing her to transfer her shares.

Example 5:

Vikram, a landlord, tells his tenant, Anil, that he will evict Anil's family and throw their belongings out on the street unless Anil pays an additional Rs. 5,000 in rent. Anil, fearing for his family's shelter, pays the extra amount. Vikram has committed extortion by putting Anil in fear of injury to his family's living situation and dishonestly inducing him to pay more money.
