Explanation using Example

Example 1:

Ravi, a local resident, enters his neighbor Suresh's house without permission while Suresh is away. Ravi does this to search for some documents he believes Suresh has taken from him. Even though Ravi does not steal anything or cause any damage, his unauthorized entry into Suresh's house constitutes house-trespass under Section 442 of the Indian Penal Code.

Example 2:

Priya, a devotee, visits a temple regularly. One night, she decides to stay inside the temple after it is closed to meditate. The temple authorities have clearly stated that no one is allowed to stay inside the temple after hours. Priya's act of remaining in the temple without permission after it is closed constitutes house-trespass under Section 442 of the Indian Penal Code.
