Example 1:
Ravi, a businessman, is kidnapped by a group of criminals. The kidnappers contact Ravi's family and demand a ransom of ₹10 lakhs for his release. They also threaten to harm Ravi if the family does not comply. This act of kidnapping and confining Ravi to extort money from his family falls under Section 348 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860. The criminals can be punished with imprisonment for up to three years and may also be fined.
Example 2:
Priya, a software engineer, is wrongfully confined in her office by her employer, Mr. Sharma, who accuses her of leaking confidential information. Mr. Sharma locks Priya in a room and demands that she confess to the alleged misconduct and provide details about her accomplices. This act of wrongful confinement to extort a confession from Priya is a violation of Section 348 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860. Mr. Sharma can be punished with imprisonment for up to three years and may also be fined.
