Explanation using Example

Example 1:

Ravi, a businessman, is involved in a legal dispute over a property. To strengthen his case, he submits a false affidavit claiming that he has been in continuous possession of the property for the last 10 years. Ravi knows that this statement is false because he has only been in possession for 5 years. The court later discovers the falsehood. Under Section 200 of the Indian Penal Code, Ravi can be punished for using a false declaration as true, similar to the punishment for giving false evidence.

Example 2:

Priya, an employee at a company, is asked to provide a declaration of her educational qualifications for a promotion. She submits a declaration stating that she has a Master's degree, knowing fully well that she only has a Bachelor's degree. The company relies on this false declaration and promotes her. When the truth comes to light, Priya can be prosecuted under Section 200 of the Indian Penal Code for corruptly using a false declaration as true, and she will face the same punishment as if she had given false evidence.
