Explanation using Example

Example 1:

Ravi is a businessman who is legally required to produce his company's financial records to the Income Tax Department for an ongoing investigation. Despite receiving multiple notices, Ravi intentionally fails to submit the documents. As a result, Ravi can be charged under Section 175 of the Indian Penal Code for omitting to produce the documents to a public servant. He may face simple imprisonment for up to one month, a fine of up to five hundred rupees, or both.

Example 2:

Sita is involved in a civil lawsuit and is ordered by the District Court to produce certain electronic records related to her case. Sita, knowing she is legally bound to do so, deliberately does not submit the required electronic records to the court. By intentionally omitting to produce the documents to the Court of Justice, Sita can be charged under Section 175 of the Indian Penal Code. She may face simple imprisonment for up to six months, a fine of up to one thousand rupees, or both.
