Ravi is a guard at a prison where a high-profile State prisoner, Ajay, is being held. Ajay promises Ravi a large sum of money if he helps him escape. Ravi agrees and provides Ajay with a key to unlock his cell. Ajay successfully escapes from the prison. In this scenario, Ravi has knowingly aided a State prisoner in escaping from lawful custody. Under Section 130 of the Indian Penal Code 1860, Ravi can be punished with imprisonment for life or a term extending up to ten years, and he may also be liable to pay a fine.
