Explanation using Example

Example 1:

Ravi is involved in a street fight where he punches Suresh multiple times. Each punch could be considered an individual act of causing hurt. However, under Section 71 of the Indian Penal Code, Ravi will not be punished separately for each punch. Instead, he will receive one punishment for the entire act of causing hurt to Suresh.

Example 2:

During a heated argument, Priya slaps her neighbor, Anjali, multiple times. Each slap could be seen as a separate offence of causing hurt. However, according to Section 71, Priya will not be punished for each individual slap. She will receive one punishment for the entire incident of causing hurt to Anjali.
