Explanation using Example

Imagine a Hindu man, Mr. Sharma, passes away without leaving a will (intestate). He has two children: a full-blood daughter, Priya, whom he had with his late wife, and a half-blood son, Rohan, whom he had with his second wife. According to Section 18 of The Hindu Succession Act, 1956, when it comes to inheriting Mr. Sharma's property, Priya would be given preference over Rohan because she is related to the deceased by full blood, whereas Rohan is related by half blood.
