Explanation using Example

Imagine a garment manufacturing factory in India where the majority of workers speak Hindi. As per Section 108 of The Factories Act, 1948, the factory manager is required to display a notice at the entrance that includes an abstract of the Act and rules, in both English and Hindi. This notice must also contain the contact details of the local Inspector and the certifying surgeon for the factory.

One day, a new worker notices that the abstract is smeared with ink and is not legible. The worker reports this to the manager, who must then ensure that the notice is cleaned or replaced to comply with the Act, maintaining the information in a clean and readable state.

Additionally, if the Chief Inspector finds that the workers are not aware of certain health and safety measures, they can order the manager to display specific posters or notices to educate the workers about their welfare, which the manager must then promptly display in the factory.
