Explanation using Example
Imagine a factory that manufactures automotive parts. The manager decides to set up two 8-hour shifts for workers to ensure round-the-clock production. Before implementing this, the manager creates a notice detailing the work periods for each shift. The first shift is scheduled from 6 AM to 2 PM, and the second shift from 2 PM to 10 PM. This notice is displayed prominently at the factory entrance and in the break room.
To comply with Section 61 of The Factories Act, 1948, the manager ensures that the work periods do not violate any regulations regarding weekly hours, rest intervals, or spread over. The notice is maintained correctly and updated whenever there's a change in the shift timings. Additionally, the manager sends a copy of this notice to the Inspector before implementing the shifts, and also notifies the Inspector in advance of any proposed changes to the work system, waiting for a week and obtaining the Inspector's sanction before making such changes.
