Explanation using Example
Imagine a worker named Rohan who operates heavy machinery at a manufacturing plant. One day, while working, his hand gets caught in the machine, resulting in severe injury. The accident prevents Rohan from being able to work for several weeks. According to Section 88 of The Factories Act, 1948, the manager of the factory must report this accident to the designated authorities in the prescribed form and within the specified timeframe because Rohan's injury caused him to miss more than 48 hours of work.
Upon receiving the accident report, the authorities are required to conduct or initiate an inquiry into the incident within one month to understand the cause and prevent future occurrences. The State Government has the authority to establish rules that dictate how these inquiries should be conducted.
