Explanation using Example
Imagine Captain Arjun is a serving officer in the Indian Air Force and has a dispute regarding his promotion. He files a case at the Armed Forces Tribunal (AFT) in Chandigarh. However, due to a significant number of cases already pending before the Chandigarh Bench, there is a considerable delay in the hearing of his case. Captain Arjun applies to the Chairperson of the AFT, requesting that his case be transferred to the AFT Bench in Delhi, where the case backlog is not as severe. After giving notice to the concerned parties and hearing their views, the Chairperson, exercising the powers under Section 27 of The Armed Forces Tribunal Act, 2007, decides to transfer Captain Arjun's case from Chandigarh to the Delhi Bench for a quicker resolution.
