Example 1:
Scenario: The State Legislature of Mizoram passes a new law regulating the sale and consumption of non-distilled alcoholic beverages.
Application:
- The new law will not automatically apply to the autonomous district of Lunglei.
- The District Council of Lunglei must issue a public notification if they decide to adopt this law.
- The District Council can also choose to adopt the law with certain modifications, such as allowing the sale of non-distilled alcoholic beverages only in specific areas within the district.
Example 2:
Scenario: The State Legislature of Mizoram enacts a law related to land ownership and transfer within the state.
Application:
- This law will not automatically apply to the autonomous region of Chakma.
- The Governor of Mizoram can issue a public notification to either exempt the Chakma region from this law or apply it with specific modifications.
- For instance, the Governor might decide that the law will apply to the Chakma region but with an exception that tribal land cannot be transferred to non-tribal individuals.
