Explanation using Example
An example of the application of Section 19 of The Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, could be a scenario where an individual, Raj, knows that his friend, Aman, is involved in terrorist activities. Despite this knowledge, Raj allows Aman to stay in his guest house to evade arrest by the authorities. Raj provides Aman with food and other necessities, knowing fully well that Aman is using the guest house as a hideout to plan further unlawful activities.
In this case, Raj could be charged under Section 19 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for voluntarily harbouring a terrorist. If convicted, he could face imprisonment of at least three years, which may extend to life imprisonment, and could also be liable to pay a fine.
