Explanation using Example

Imagine that a woman, Mrs. Sharma, gifts her nephew, Raj, a piece of jewelry on the condition that if Raj decides to move abroad permanently, the jewelry must be returned to her. This condition does not depend on Mrs. Sharma's will, but on Raj's decision. If Raj later decides to settle in another country, Mrs. Sharma has the right to revoke the gift and reclaim the jewelry.

However, if Mrs. Sharma had made a gift of cash to Raj with the understanding that she could ask for the money back whenever she wanted, this part of the agreement would be void, as it is revocable at the mere will of the donor. Raj would be entitled to keep the cash without any obligation to return it.
