Explanation using Example
Imagine Sarah, who owns a small cottage, and mistakenly believes she also has the right to sell the adjacent plot of land, which actually belongs to her neighbor. She sells both the cottage and the land to Tom for a lump sum. Later, the neighbor moves away and Sarah legally acquires the plot. Tom, who has not cancelled the sale, can demand that Sarah transfers the plot to him under the terms of their original agreement.
