Summary

The State of Himachal Pradesh Act, 1970 is an Act that was enacted to provide for the reorganization of the erstwhile state of Punjab into the new states of Punjab and Haryana, and the transfer of certain territories from the state of Punjab to the newly created state of Himachal Pradesh. The Act defines the territories that constitute the state of Himachal Pradesh, and provides for the establishment of the Legislative Assembly and Council of Ministers in the state. It also lays down provisions for the division of assets, liabilities and rights of the former state of Punjab, and the allocation of resources and personnel to the new states.
