Explanation using Example
Imagine a Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) officer named Rohit who has signed up for a five-year term of service. After three years, Rohit decides he wants to pursue higher education and considers resigning from the Force. According to Section 8 of The Sashastra Seema Bal Act, 2007, Rohit is not free to resign his appointment before the end of his engagement term. If he wishes to resign, he must seek prior written permission from the prescribed authority within the SSB. Without this permission, if Rohit stops coming to work or refuses to perform his duties, he would be in violation of the Act and could face disciplinary action.
