Explanation using Example
Imagine a scenario where a 45-year-old man, Mr. Sharma, is caught making sexually suggestive remarks to his 14-year-old neighbor, Priya, on multiple occasions. Priya feels uncomfortable and reports this behavior to her parents, who then approach the police. The police investigate and find evidence of the harassment, such as witnesses and possibly recorded conversations. Under Section 12 of The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, Mr. Sharma can be charged with sexual harassment upon a child. If found guilty, he could face up to three years in prison along with a fine.
