Explanation using Example

Imagine a shopkeeper named John, who owns a small convenience store. Despite the prohibition, he decides to sell electronic cigarettes in his store. One day, an undercover law enforcement officer visits the store and purchases an electronic cigarette from John. This act of selling constitutes a contravention of Section 4 of The Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act, 2019. Consequently, John could face legal action and, if found guilty, he may be sentenced to up to one year in prison or fined up to one lakh rupees, or both. If John were to be caught again for the same offence, the penalties would increase significantly, potentially resulting in up to three years of imprisonment and a fine of up to five lakh rupees.
