Explanation using Example

Imagine a witness in a court case is asked to take an oath before testifying. Due to an oversight, the court clerk provides the witness with an affirmation form instead of an oath. The witness completes the affirmation and proceeds to give their testimony. Later, the error is discovered, but according to Section 7 of The Oaths Act, 1969, the testimony of the witness does not become invalid due to this mistake. The proceedings continue, and the evidence given by the witness under the affirmation is still admissible and considered legally binding, just as if the witness had taken the oath.
