Explanation using Example

Imagine a scenario where a National Security Guard (NSG) officer is in charge of a temporary holding area for individuals detained during a high-profile event. The officer, due to a personal favor, decides to release one of the detainees without any formal authorization. This act of releasing the detainee without proper authority is a violation of Section 26(1) of The National Security Guard Act, 1986.

If the incident is investigated and the officer is found guilty, the Security Guard Court may convict the officer. Since the release was wilful, the officer could face imprisonment for up to ten years, according to the provisions of the Act.
