Explanation using Example
Imagine Dr. Aarav, a recent postgraduate in Ayurveda, who aspires to become a lecturer at a reputed Ayurvedic college. According to Section 17 of The National Commission for Indian System of Medicine Act, 2020, Dr. Aarav must clear the National Teachers' Eligibility Test (NTET) specific to his discipline of Ayurveda before he can be considered for a teaching position.
The NTET is conducted by a designated authority under the guidelines set by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine. Dr. Aarav would need to keep an eye on the official notifications for the schedule and regulations pertaining to the test.
This test became mandatory for new teachers within three years of the Act coming into force. However, Dr. Aarav's senior, Dr. Bhavna, who has been teaching Ayurveda before the specified date, is exempt from taking the NTET as per the provision in sub-section (3).
