Explanation using Example
Imagine a truck driver named Rohan who had a valid driving license issued under the Motor Vehicles Act of 1939. After the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988 came into force, Rohan was concerned about the validity of his license. According to Section 217 of the new Act, Rohan's license issued under the repealed 1939 Act would continue to be effective under the same conditions and for the same period as if the 1988 Act had not been passed. This meant that Rohan did not need to obtain a new license immediately; his existing license remained valid until its expiration date.
