Imagine John is driving his car on a busy city road. Suddenly, he hears the siren of an ambulance rapidly approaching from behind. Despite the audible siren and visible flashing lights, John does not pull over to the side of the road to allow the ambulance to pass. A traffic officer notices this and stops John for obstructing the path of an emergency vehicle. According to Section 194E of The Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, John's failure to give way to the ambulance is an offense, and he could face a penalty of imprisonment for up to six months, a fine of ten thousand rupees, or both.
