Imagine John, who starts a small business where he acts as an agent for a local bus service without obtaining the necessary permits and authority as required under section 93 of The Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. John advertises his services online and starts booking bus tickets for customers, charging a small commission for each transaction.
Upon inspection, the authorities discover that John does not have the legal authorization to operate as an agent for the bus service. Since this is his first offence, John is fined one thousand rupees in accordance with the provisions of Section 193 of The Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. If John were to continue this business and is caught again, he could face imprisonment for up to six months, or a fine of two thousand rupees, or both.
