Explanation using Example
Imagine a passenger named John boards a public bus, which is a stage carriage, to travel from one part of the city to another. He sits down without purchasing a ticket. When the conductor approaches to check tickets, John is unable to produce one because he never bought it. The conductor informs John that under Section 178(1) of The Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, he is liable to a fine for travelling without a valid ticket. John is then fined up to five hundred rupees for this offense.
