Imagine a scenario where a shipping company is planning to establish a new maritime route for its vessels along the Indian coastline. To achieve this, they look into the various "aids to navigation" (b) mentioned in the Marine Aids to Navigation Act, 2021.

The company decides to invest in a new lighthouse to aid navigation. They approach the Central Government to get the lighthouse accredited as a "general aid to navigation" (e). The Central Government, through a "notification" (j) in the Official Gazette of India, declares the new lighthouse as a general aid to navigation.

Additionally, the company seeks out an "accredited training organisation" (a) to train their staff on the proper use of navigation aids. The training is crucial for the safe operation of their vessels, especially in areas where navigation might be tricky due to natural obstacles.

The shipping company also consults the "Director General" (c) of Aids to Navigation to ensure compliance with all regulations and to understand the "marine aids to navigation dues" (i) that will be levied for the use of these aids.

Before commencing operations, the company's vessels are inspected by a "proper officer" (n) to ensure they are equipped with the necessary devices and systems to safely navigate using the newly established aids to navigation.
