Explanation using Example

Imagine a scenario where a Member of the Lokpal is found to have a significant financial interest in a company that has recently entered into a contract with the Government of India. This situation could potentially lead to a conflict of interest, as the Member's personal financial interests may unduly influence their duties and decisions within the Lokpal.

In this situation, if the Member does not divest themselves of the interest or step away from their duties related to the contract, other Members of Parliament may take notice. If at least one hundred Members of Parliament believe that the Member's actions constitute misbehaviour, they could sign a petition requesting the President to refer the matter to the Supreme Court for inquiry.

If the Supreme Court, after conducting an inquiry, finds that the Member's conduct indeed amounts to misbehaviour due to the conflict of interest, it would report this to the President. Based on the Supreme Court's report, the President may then remove the Member from their office to maintain the integrity of the Lokpal.
