Explanation using Example

Imagine a scenario where a restaurant owner, Mr. Sharma, hires a 14-year-old boy, Aman, to work as a helper in his establishment. Mr. Sharma promises Aman a monthly salary but instead of paying him, he keeps all the earnings, claiming that Aman owes him money for food and accommodation. Aman is made to work long hours without any compensation, and Mr. Sharma uses the money earned by Aman for his own expenses.

In this case, under Section 79 of The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, Mr. Sharma could be charged and prosecuted for engaging a child in bondage. If found guilty, he could face rigorous imprisonment of up to five years and a fine of one lakh rupees for not only employing a child but also withholding his earnings and using them for personal gains.
