Explanation using Example

Imagine a scenario where Mr. John, an American citizen, is involved in a cybercrime activity. He uses a computer system located in India to commit a fraudulent financial transaction, causing harm to an Indian company. Although the crime was committed outside India, Section 75 of the Information Technology Act, 2000 would still apply, as the offence involved a computer system located in India. Hence, Mr. John could be held accountable under this Act irrespective of his nationality and location at the time of the crime.
