Explanation using Example

Let's say John is an online banking user. One day, his friend, Mark, who has knowledge of John's login credentials, decides to use them without John's consent. Mark logs into John's online banking account and makes a fraudulent transaction. In this case, Mark has fraudulently made use of John's electronic signature (his login credentials) which is a unique identification feature. According to Section 66C of The Information Technology Act, 2000, Mark can be punished with imprisonment that may extend up to three years and may also be liable to a fine which may extend to rupees one lakh.
