Explanation using Example

Imagine a scenario where Mr. A, a skilled hacker, breaks into the secure server of a financial institution, XYZ Bank, and transfers a substantial amount of money to his personal account. He does this act with the intention of causing wrongful loss to the bank and wrongful gain to himself. This act is done dishonestly and fraudulently, thereby violating the provisions of section 43 of the Information Technology Act, 2000.

As per Section 66 of the same Act, Mr. A can be prosecuted and if found guilty, he can be imprisoned for up to three years and/or fined up to five lakh rupees. The terms "dishonestly" and "fraudulently" are defined as per section 24 and section 25 of the Indian Penal Code respectively.
