Explanation using Example

Imagine John and Mike are neighbors. One day, they have a dispute over a property boundary. In the heat of the moment, John, with the intention of provoking Mike, publicly insults him using derogatory language, knowing well that it might incite Mike to react violently or take some illegal action. If Mike is provoked and a fight ensues, potentially disturbing public peace, John could be charged under Section 504 of The Indian Penal Code for intentionally insulting and provoking Mike, which could lead to John facing a punishment of up to two years imprisonment, or a fine, or both.
