Explanation using Example
A local shopkeeper, Raj, decides to sell watches that closely resemble those of a well-known luxury brand. To make them appear authentic, he creates a stamp that imitates the brand's unique logo, intending to emboss it on the watches. Before he can sell any of the counterfeit items, the police raid his shop and discover the stamp among his possessions. Raj is then charged under Section 485 of the Indian Penal Code for having an instrument (the stamp) intended for counterfeiting a property mark (the luxury brand's logo).
