Explanation using Example

Imagine a local shopkeeper, Raj, who sells electronic goods. A popular brand, "TechGuru," has a distinctive property mark that it uses on all its products. Raj, hoping to increase his sales, starts putting fake "TechGuru" stickers on generic, unbranded chargers and sells them as genuine "TechGuru" products. A customer buys one of these chargers, believing it to be a genuine "TechGuru" product. When the charger malfunctions, the customer complains to "TechGuru," who then investigates and finds out about Raj's counterfeit operation. Raj could then be charged under Section 483 of The Indian Penal Code, 1860, for counterfeiting the property mark of "TechGuru," and if convicted, he may face up to two years of imprisonment, or a fine, or both.
