Explanation using Example
Imagine a group of five friends planning to rob a wealthy merchant's house. They gather in an abandoned warehouse to discuss the details of their plan, such as the time of the robbery, the roles each one will play, and how they intend to divide the loot. Before they can carry out their plan, the police receive a tip-off and raid the warehouse, arresting all five individuals. Since they were assembled with the intent to commit dacoity, even though they had not yet committed the actual crime, they can be charged under Section 402 of The Indian Penal Code, 1860. Consequently, each of them could face up to seven years of rigorous imprisonment and may also be fined.
