Explanation using Example

Imagine a scenario where a man, named Raj, approaches a shopkeeper, named Aman, and threatens to harm Aman's family unless Aman pays him a sum of money. Raj explicitly states that if Aman does not comply, Raj will ensure that Aman or his family members will face serious injuries. Fearing for his and his family's safety, Aman agrees to pay the money. Later, Aman reports the incident to the police, and they arrest Raj. In this case, Raj can be charged under Section 386 of the Indian Penal Code for committing extortion by putting Aman in fear of death or grievous hurt to him or his family, and if found guilty, Raj could face up to ten years in prison and also be liable to a fine.
