Explanation using Example
Imagine a government official responsible for managing funds allocated for a public infrastructure project. If this official diverts some of these funds into his personal account for his own use, he has committed a breach of trust. Since he is a public servant entrusted with the property (funds), under Section 409 of The Indian Penal Code, he can be charged with criminal breach of trust and, if found guilty, could face imprisonment for life or up to ten years, along with a fine.
